The Witches’ Paddle

When broomsticks meet paddleboards in Santa Barbara Harbor

It’s Halloween! πŸŽƒπŸ‘» And apparently, even witches enjoy a little time on the water.

Today, a coven of witches descended upon Santa Barbara Harbor, trading their broomsticks for paddles and taking to the water for the annual Witches’ Paddle.

Pointed hats, flowing black capes, striped stockings, and plenty of Halloween spirit made for quite a sight as witches of all shapes and sizes balanced atop their paddleboards.

Who knew witchcraft required such impressive core strength?

There is something wonderfully amusing about watching a group of witches glide across the harbor, their capes fluttering in the breeze while they attempt to maintain both their dignity and their balance.

After all, flying a broomstick is one thing. Navigating a paddleboard without taking an unexpected dip is quite another!

It’s these unexpected moments that make harbor life so much fun. One day, you’re enjoying the sailboats and the afternoon sunshine. The next, you’re sharing the water with an entire coven.

And honestly, I wouldn’t have it any other way.

Santa Barbara Harbor has its own wonderful personality, and events like the Witches’ Paddle remind me that life by the water doesn’t always have to be about grand adventures. Sometimes it’s the spontaneous, slightly ridiculous, and delightfully festive moments that become our favorite memories.

I have to admit, though, I’m particularly impressed by the witches who managed to keep their hats on!

As for me, I think I’ll stick to watching the festivities from the comfort of dry landβ€”or perhaps the deck of Sol Y Luna, with a festive docktail in hand.

Happy Halloween from Santa Barbara Harbor!

May your broomsticks fly straight, your paddleboards stay upright, and your cauldrons always be well stocked.
